Turning Set Up Operator - 3rd Shift

GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

With limited direction or supervision, this machine set-up/operator position requires the set-up of primary (Turning) and secondary manufacturing equipment. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List in order of importance the principal duties and responsibilities of the job:

1. Follow all safety rules.

2. Maintain clean, orderly work area

3. To be at work, on time, when scheduled or use one of the remedies for attendance.

4. Set-up and operate equipment as required.

5. Trouble shoots problems resulting from manufacturing process and/or machine capabilities.

6. Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

7. Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.

8. Perform minor machine maintenance such as oil changes and tightening of bolts.

9. Assist other operators as needed.

10. Suggest process improvement ideas.

11. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

1. HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.
   
   

2. Ability to use all gages and gauging techniques required.

3. Solid verbal and written communication skills. English language as primary.

4. Thorough understanding of SPC.

5. Basic computer knowledge.

6. Knowledge in ISO/QS requirements.

7. Ability to set-up and operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment.

8. Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards

9. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.

10. Good communication and teamwork skills.

11. Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.

*Standing/walking required to perform machine setup/operation, material handling, and data recording.

*Sitting may be required to perform some machine operation and data recording.

*Gripping/handling/fine finger movements are required for machine setup/operation, mechanical adjustments, gaging of parts, housekeeping, and control/switch operation.

*Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching are physical requirements associated with setting up and operating equipment.

*Talking and hearing may be necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; as well as to hear alarms, pages, and machine noises.

*Pulling/pushing of parts on wheeled devices may reach a weight of 300 pounds.
