JOB DESCRIPTION Turning Operator - Equipment Technician

Shop Hourly Position
THIS IS A 1st POSITION ( 7am-3pm ) 


GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

This turning operator - equipment technician position requires the operation and/or basic set-up of manufacturing automated equipment with moderate direction or supervision. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List in order of importance the principal duties and responsibilities of the job:

  1. Follow all safety rules.

  2. Maintain clean, orderly work area

  3. To be at work, on time, when scheduled or use one of the remedies for attendance outlined in the associate handbook.

  4. Operate equipment and perform basic machine tool changes as required.

  5. Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

  6. Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.

  7. Ability to run TESA checks after proper training.

  8. Suggest process improvement ideas.

  9. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor, to include Tugger Duties listed below.

Turning Tugger Driver Duties

  • Safely operate stand up tugger throughout the department while pulling multiple carts

  • Understanding of Standard work development and also importance of adhering to the SW that has been developed.

  • Ability to stay on task (Follow standard work)

  • Basic understanding of kanban calculations

  • Understanding of kanban process and kanban cards

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Ability to recognize problems within the system

  • Complete daily audits of tugger route process

  • Give constructive feedback and present improvement ideas

  • Willingness to participate in, and contribute to, Kaizen events to improve system

Physical Duties

  • Filling of tugger carts from dump stand

  • Filling of dunnage in market

  • Lifting of dunnage at select cells. Max weight of 35 lbs.


EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.

  2. Ability to use all gages and gauging techniques required.

  3. Solid verbal and written communication skills. English language as primary.

  4. Understanding of SPC.

  5. Basic computer knowledge.

  6. Understand ISO/QS requirements.

  7. Ability to operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment.

  8. Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards

  9. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.

  10. Good communication and teamwork skills.

  11. Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.

  12. Knowledge and experience with PLC, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems

  13. 2+ years experience in robotic operation

  14. Machine Tool Certification or 3+ years in CNC turning machines

  15. Strong machine troubleshooting abilities

  16. Certification or Associate degree in Mechatronics or related discipline a plus

  17. Strong written and verbal skills

  18. Ability to read blueprints

  19. Capable of moving lifting heavy objects

  20. Perform required quality measurements per quality guidelines

  21. Perform minor preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment
