Material Handler

Ensure the flow of materials through the supply chain. Move materials through the Company from shipments in to the company to the production floor and outgoing shipments.

Essential Functions:

·Operate fork truck, hand truck and other powered equipment.

·Load and unload materials.

·Use scanners and bar coding to transfer inventory in the Inventory Control System.

·Complete Bill of Lading and packing slips.

·Open and close dock doors and dock plates following all safety requirements.

·Count and sort material in inventory.

·Interpret and follow through with raw material callouts.

·Stage proper type and quantity of materials.

·Utilization of truck scales for all in/outbound loads.

·Perform cycle counts and produce related reports.

·Stage steel and recognize steel grades by color coding.

·Identify raw material and place on hold when necessary.

·Complete log sheets and all job related paperwork.

·Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.

·Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to work in a physically demanding role with endurance to stand and/or sit for up to 8+ hours and lift 40+ pounds.

• Possess math and computer skills.

• Knowledge of inventory database is helpful.

• Willing to work in a team environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• High attention to detail.

• Familiarity with Microsoft office products and other in-house programs.

• Ability to multi-task.

• Willingness to work OT, including weekends, as needed.

Education:

HS Diploma or GED required.Some college preferred.

Experience:

1-3 years working in a fast paced manufacturing or distribution center environment.

Must have mobile equipment experience, including stand up, sit down fork truck.
