GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB

This machine operator position requires the operation and/or basic set-up of manufacturing equipment with moderate direction or supervision. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List in order of importancethe principal duties and responsibilities of the job:

  1. Follow all safety rules.

  2. Maintain clean, orderly work area

  3. To be at work, on time, when scheduled or use one of the remedies for attendance outlined in the associate handbook.

  4. Operate equipment and perform basic machine tool changes as required.

  5. Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

  6. Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.

  7. Ability to run TESA checks after proper training.

  8. Suggest process improvement ideas.

  9. All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.

  2. Ability to use all gages and gauging techniques required.

  3. Solid verbal and written communication skills. English language as primary.

  4. Understanding of SPC.

  5. Basic computer knowledge.

  6. Understand ISO/QS requirements.

  7. Ability to operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment.

  8. Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards

  9. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.

  10. Good communication and teamwork skills.

  11. Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.

*Factory conditions vary but machines give off heat, smoke/mist, and some locations have heat treat furnaces that may increase the temperature inside of buildings.

*All equipment has moving mechanical parts.

*Machine operators must work with oils and other chemicals in the manufacturing of parts and in cleaning of work areas.

*Because wiring is present, there is some minor risk of electrical shock while operating equipment.

*When in operation, machines will vibrate, as will the feeding systems of some equipment.

*Hearing protection is required PPE due to consistent decibel levels present when equipment is operating.

*Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching are physical requirements associated with setting up and operating equipment.

*Talking and hearing may be necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; as well as to hear alarms, pages, and machine noises.

*Pulling/pushing of parts on wheeled devices may reach a weight of 300 pounds.
