Our Field Engineer Trainee is an entry-level engineering role in the O&G services industry.  You will become an expert in one of the product service lines and master either Hydraulic Fracturing, Wireline, Cement, or Power Solutions in a fixed-step training program. Our Field Engineers work on a 2-week on, 1-week off rotational schedule and NexTier provides a flexible work-life balance allowing you to choose where to live so you can enjoy your time off around friends and family.


Position Summary


As a Field Engineer in Training, you will learn firsthand the necessary daily activities to perform a well completions operations and stimulation treatment. Your training will be done predominantly on wellsite locations with an emphasis on hands-on training. Training will begin with safe equipment maintenance and operating procedures. Then progress to completions fluid training through classes, onsite and at the lab. The final phase of training will take place in the data van under the supervision of an engineer or a supervisor. You will learn the equipment operating and data analyzing software used to complete a stimulation job.


Key Accountabilities



  • Learn wellsite safety

  • Learn major components of equipment

  • Learn proper operating procedures for equipment

  • Assist equipment operators with maintenance.

  • Assist equipment operators with daily duties.

  • Learn all completion fluid systems.

  • Learn proper proppant and fluid testing practices.

  • Assist Data Pump Operators/Engineers and Operations Engineers with pre-job testing and set up.

  • Learn equipment operating and stimulation software.

  • Assist engineer in proppant and chemical ordering.

  • Assist engineer in completing a stimulation job.

  • Communicate frequently with mentor and your supervisor.

  • Learn Company integrated completions equipment while on location. Learn Company Standard Operating Procedures and

  • become familiar with data acquisition and modeling systems.

  • Comply with all Company safety rules and Company policies.

  • Attend project team and technical review meetings at the district level, as possible.

  • Learn and maintain good knowledge of oilfield chemistry.

  • Perform all other job duties assigned


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


 



  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office applications, Excel, MS Word, etc...

Required Experience and Education


 



  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering required
