Area Manager - Southern California
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Chain Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading Sales Execution for TWG in the designated region, optimizing all areas of performance in the Chain Channel, Display, Cross Merchandising, Cold Box, Shelf and Distribution. In addition, managing a portion of the local wholesaler Chain Account Executive Team responsible for some National Accounts. All responsibilities to deliver the total volume plan for the Chain Channel.
LOCATION: CANDIDATES MUST BE PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for annual sales volume, brand launches and scorecard objectives within the Chain Channel.
- Lead Selling: Direct accountability for all Areas of Performance in the Chains
- Distribution, Pricing, Programming, Cold Box, Shelf Placement, Displays
- Channel includes Grocery, Drug, Mass and select Specialty Retail
- Build division-level relationships with key chains
- Distributor Management: Drive TWG monthly priorities and initiatives through SGWS Management and Sales Representatives
- Schedule and lead effective sales meetings with all levels of SGWS Chain management including QBR presentations. Maintain strong monthly business rhythm with this group
- Become preferred supplier through development of best practices
- Chain Account Management: Lead annual and monthly planning on key national accounts, alongside corresponding wholesale chain account executives.
- Monthly forecasts, pricing, program management, etc.
- Work closely with TWG account teams to ensure alignment with local team.
- Trade Development Collaboration: Work closely with TWG/SGWS headquarter teams to achieve scorecard objectives.
- Assist in developing and implementing annual operating plan which includes financial, volume, and distribution objectives
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Complete and review monthly Scorecard reports (depletion and distribution) with DM
- Manage any necessary program trackers
- Forecast Monthly Sales and utilize Nielsen/VIP reporting
- Complete Customer Pricing Report
- Manage assigned budgets and complete expense reports with any relevant Travel and Entertainment expenses on a weekly basis

QUALIFICATIONS
- BA degree or equivalent experience and proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Preferred 5 or more years of sales experience in the alcoholic beverage industry or related business with knowledge and passion for both commercial and premium wines
- Must have a strong understanding and working knowledge of alcoholic beverage industry retail environment
- Intermediate wine knowledge or associated certifications preferred
- Must be adaptive to change within organization and industry
- Results oriented, innovation, strong problem solving and negotiation skills
- Ability to work and succeed in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to travel with overnight stays as needed
- Display integrity, character, and strong leadership skills
- Support and model all company procedures and policies
- Ability to multitask, work independently and with a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Must have an excellent safety, work performance and attendance record
- Prioritize while able to adapt to changing priorities
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in an office environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs at varying frequencies
- Ability to travel frequently between home office, client sites, and industry meeting/events
