Human Resources Specialist


PL 5; starting base salary in the mid 50’s to low 60’s commensurate with relevant experience, education and training


Eastover’s HR Specialist supports approximately 650+ employees in a mill with High Performance Work Systems.  This “hands-on” position requires significant interaction and visibility to all levels of the organization, departments, and all shifts in a manufacturing environment.  Responsibilities include administering people processes for Eastover team members, from selection through retirement and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements while ensuring a positive team member experience.    

This is an exciting career opportunity for a Human Resources Professional who desires to influence results for the customers they support. The HR Specialist reports to the HR Manager.

Required Minimum Qualifications Include:

·         Demonstrated experience in positions that required:

o   integrity and administration of highly confidential information

o   accuracy in work while under time pressure

o   project management skills

o   planning skills that incorporate potential problem avoidance

o   ability to apply good judgement to situations that fall outside policy and procedure guidance

o   excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

o   courage to challenge all levels of leadership to maintain integrity in mill and company people processes

o   impartial administration of people processes across areas and team members 

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills:

o   ability to communicate with and build relationships with a broad array of people

o   easily keeps lots of people highly informed and up to the minute

o   positively interact with leadership at all levels

o   demonstrated ability to facilitate team member concerns to resolution

·         Demonstrated use of computer tools for trending, analysis and reporting:

o   strong computer experience using Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook

o   track, organize, analyze and report data for leaders to make key people decisions

·         Demonstrated conscientious work ethic:

o   continuously monitoring people processes to avoid delays for team members

o   take laptop home with VPN access; carry company phone to respond to people issues outside regular work hours when needed

o   availability to move people processes forward evenings and weekends when needed; work overtime when needed

·         High School diploma/GED

Preferred Qualifications Include:

5+ years HR experience:

o   experience with Ceridian Dayforce  or a similar HRIS system

o   administration of employee leave processes through a third party administrator (i.e., FMLA, sick leave/salary continuation, etc.)

o   administration of recruiting and selection processes, promotion processes, performance management systems, people policy administration, and workforce planning

o   experience tracking people processes and sharing information with management

o   maintenance of human resources record retention requirements based on Records Retention Compliance

o   proactively audit personnel administrative steps, policy and procedure application and reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and IP core values. Keeps abreast of employment related regulatory provisions.

o   interpret and answer inquires related to HR policies and procedures, and counsel and educate team members while ensuring consistency and reinforcing adherence as appropriate  

o   balance daily administration of people processes with intense preparation, support and administration of infrequently occurring people processes, both planned and unplanned (ex: regulatory audits, affirmative action, business people projects and requests for information, people reviews, forecasting/budgeting, etc.) 

o   work with and through third party administrators of benefits and people processes; support HR Reps and team members and escalate cases as needed

o   experience working in a union free 24/7 manufacturing environment

o   experience working at a site with high performance work systems

o   develop, propose and implement people related work system improvements

o   Responsibility for HR projects as assigned

o   Relevant post high school education; degree, certification or training (ex: Office Administration, HR, SHRM, CEBs, Employee Relations, Ceridian Dayforce, ADA, FMLA, time and attendance system, etc.)
